Have you noticed your Yorkie Terrier limping? If your Yorkie just lately jumped from a chair or possibly off of the bed, that could be the reason for the limp. Hopefully, the injury is not severe. Check conservatively that there is not one thing stuck among his toes or onto his pads–you will have to be competent to quickly tell if you need to seek a veterinarians assistance.

If none of the above seem to be the problem, does your Yorkie have a condition known as Luxating Patella–meaning his back leg kneecaps dislocate or slip? This happens because the groove in the femur needs to be deeper. The treatment for this condition is surgery to deepen the grove.

This condition is commonly hereditary. A Yorkie may have seriously slipping kneecaps and not show any signs of pain or uncomfortableness when he is jumping, walking, playing or running. My original Yorkie had this condition when I got him. My vet said to wait and see how he got along before having surgery. He was four months old then and did not seem to be bothered by it or uncomfortable. He ran, jumped and played all the time. He could jump straight up, regarding 3 feet, and land on his back legs. I always wondered how he could do that and have slipping kneecaps, as his legs always supported him when he was jumping.

Periodically, his knee would slip out and he would be capable to straighten it out himself, if not, I could gently move it back into place. As the years went by, he seemed to be troubled by it less and less. He was 13 1/2 years old by now. Then one day he got up and continued to hold his back leg up–he was lame. I watched him carefully. He couldn’t come up the stairs anymore. Otherwise, he continued on as normal. Eventually, he was competent to put his leg down and support himself again. But, there was no more running and jumping.

During his lifetime, he had 6 dissimilar veterinarians and none of them ever suggested surgery to treat his slipping kneecap. I took him to dissimilar vets, searching for an individual who actually loves animals and shows caring and compassion. Finally, I found one in January 2007, when my Yorkie had an emergency on a Sunday. The point here is that all vets are not invented equal. If your Yorkie seems to be bothered by any conditions that need veterinary help, please be sure you listen conservatively and detect how the vet and the assistants treat your pet. If you are the least bit uncomfortable with anything in regards to the care of your Yorkie, keep looking for another vet.

It is commonly thought that luxating patella may lead to arthritis if not surgically repaired. That may be true, as in the last 2 months of his life, my Yorkie would lose his balance, as his back leg did not in truth support him anymore and then he would fall over, which would ultimately lead to him screaming in pain. He would be on his side, very stiff, when I would rush to pick him up. Then the pain would subside and he was “normal” again. This happened a couple of times for the duration of the night–you may imagine the heart stopping panic that I felt as I was awakened by his screaming. I was so frighted for him and did not recognise how to aid him. Of course, I asked the vet in regards to this and she said it was arthritis and there was not one thing she could do. At his age she felt surgery was out of the question.

If your Yorkie or any other dog is dealing with this condition, you have to consider what the best course of action is for your pet. Educate yourself with regards to Yorkie health problems. Search the Internet, go to bookstores and find the veterinary books on dogs. This way you will perceive numerous of the things your dog may be facing. You need to without doubt or question comprehend what your vet is saying to you when it comes to treatments. So a great deal of health difficulties today in our pets are genetic. Breeders need to recompense close attention to how they are breeding and stop over breeding. Maybe someday these terrifi little dogs will not be bothered anymore by slipping kneecaps.

From Publishers WeeklyIn this fourth book of Meddaugh’s Martha series, the mild-mannered pooch who derives the power of speech from alphabet soup takes herself for a stroll. When somebody calls her a “good dog,” she ingenuously replies, “What other kind of dog is there?” She soon has her answer when she meets Bob, a hulking, bearlike mutt who viciously barks at passers-by. Bob’s bearded owner is “just as ferocious,” berating his pet with the words, “Bad dog Bob! Bad dog!” She moves on to another neighbor’s yard, where she teaches a parrot to call her a “good dog.” Martha’s huge mouth gets her into trouble when she returns to lecture Bob, not realizing that he has broken free of his thick metal chain. Fortunately, he chases Martha into the parrot’s yard, where the magic words?”good dog!”?save Martha from sure doom. As in former volumes, Meddaugh carries much of the story forward through dialog that appears in hand-lettered voice bubbles, and her illustrations winningly convey the characters’ personalities. The golden-brown, thick-waisted heroine’s deep sincerity, with her drooping ears and expressive eyes, remainder her comical self-righteous streak. The lunging, growling Bob is veritably scary, but compliments tame his anger and smooth his shaggy coat. Young animal lovers ought to be admonished that not each snarling bad dog may be as miraculously transformed as Bob into an earnest good dog. Nevertheless, Meddaugh with great success sends the message that pets (and their owners) respond best to kindness. Ages 4-8.
Copyright 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From School Library JournalKindergarten-Grade 3-Martha the talking dog has yet another adventure. This time, the loquacious canine has the ominous experience of having a noisy neighbor move in with his bad dog. Bob is always barking and his owner is always screaming at him. When the offensive animal starts to pick on the neighborhood dogs, Martha speaks up. A beautifully originative name-calling chase ensues. “You mangy mongrel/crummy cur/big baboon,” she taunts. However, she later finds that a talking parrot’s praise is far more effective at controlling the bully’s behavior, and his owner learns to calm him with sweet talk. The story ends, “Looks like the beginning of a pretty friendship.” Everything in regards to the book is exceedingly well done, from the story line to the illustrations and presentation. The drawings are colorful and full of emotion, showing a wide range of sensations in the canine and humane faces. Another outstanding story in a great tradition.
Shelley Woods, Boston Public Library, MA
Copyright 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From BooklistAges 4^-8. Martha tames a bully–with kind words–in the latest funny tale of the talking dog. She enjoys impressing persons with her capacity to speak, but she also needs her daily walks with her neighborhood dog pals, scratching, sniffing, snoozing, chasing. Then a new dog arrives, a big, ferocious hound who barks at Martha and everything else and who is kept chained up by his fierce owner. One day, the angry bully breaks his chain and chases Martha. All her shouts and insults have no effect, and she almost runs out of words and breath–until the bully hears the words “Good dog!” and he smiles and wags his tail. As always, Meddaugh’s line-and-watercolor cartoons and ballooned gags celebrate not only humor and courage but likewise Martha’s elementary discovery: “Words are such fun.” Hazel Rochman

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful.
It’s a good thing!
By K. Bennett
Take one dog with attitude, add one can of alphabet soup, and you’ve got Martha, who not only talks, but isn’t afraid to speak her mind. In this book, her fourth adventure so far, Martha learns the power that other people’s (or animal’s) words have on our self-image.

Every day, Martha walks herself around the neighborhood, and every day things are pretty much the same — until Bad Dog Bob moves in. Bob spends his days lurking under the porch steps, then charging at anything that moves into his line of sight. Only two things keep him from ripping his neighbors to shreds — his chain, which only reaches so far, and his owner, who always screams, “BAD DOG, BOB! BAD DOG! “

Then someone else moves into the neighborhood. This animal can talk, too, but Martha soon realizes her new neighbor is only parroting her words back to her. She teaches the bird to say “Good dog! What a dog!” and “You must have fleas!”

When Martha decides one day to tell Bad Dog Bob what she really thinks of him, she’s not counting on his chain being broken. Just when Martha is sure Bob is going to have her for a doggie treat, a voice from above says, “Good dog!” Suddenly, Bob smiles. Quick-thinking Martha teaches her parrot friend more words of praise, and Bad Dog Bob turns into Tail-wagging Bob.

My kids love the Martha books because they are so funny. I love them because they are great jumping off places for discussions of serious topics. This book led to a discussion of just what it means to call someone “Stupid Head.” I can’t say we’ve totally eliminated that insult or others like it from our house, but we’re working on it.

I just gave my copy as a present to a student. I read this book to grades K-4 as part of “social skills” teaching. This book is a fun way to explore the power of words and tone of voice. A dog that is called “bad boy, Bob” acts like a bad dog. Once he hears “good dog”, “handsome dog” and other compliments, he feels much happier. It is fun to read, the illustrations are wonderful, and kids love it.

There is perchance no other creature that has been so mythologized, feared, and misunderstood as the toad. Indeed, the toad has long been related with black magic, poison, and death. At the same time, however, toads have been considered symbols of fertility, love, and health by alchemists, gypsies, and all manner of ancient peoples. In a more innovative context, toads have enjoyed increasing popularity as easy-to-keep, distinctive pets. With choices ranging from the garden-variety American toad to the more exotic Oriental fire-bellied toad, keeping a pet toad may be an education unto itself, provided you learn the following priceless pet toad care pointers first!

While your methods of toad pet care will depend largely upon the person needs of the species you choose as a companion, there a few basic “rules” that ought to be heeded. The original rule as that most toads don’t take kindly to being kept or touched. While there is no truth to the old wives’ tale that says touching a toad will cause warts, it is unfeigned that toads will secrete a toxic, defensive substance from their skin when they feel threatened. To that end, you will have to always wash your hands if you ought to touch your pet toad, but you will have to also keep in mind that the reason your toad feels threatened in the introductory place is because you’re many, numerous times more prominent than it is! Toads are not wired to respond to affection like a cat or dog, therefore, they are best enjoyed happily dwelling in an enclosure that resembles their natural habitat as closely as possible-an appropriately appointed living space.

Your pet toad care success depends for the most part upon selecting a secure, adaptable home for your toad. Aquariums are always best, whether your toad is a land-dweller or a water lover as they grant for greatest or most complete or best possible looking at potential while keeping your toad safe from harm. Outfit your aquarium with a snug-fitting mesh top that will provide adequate ventilation, and make sure that your toad has sufficient room to hop and swim about. A good rule of thumb is that a single medium-sized toad must be given at least ten gallons worth of aquarium. Nearly all toads take delight in water to a heap of extent-some beauteous much live in it, climbing out only now and then to rest, feed, or breathe while others spend most of their time grubbing around on land, entering the water only to drink or have a little swim. Once you’ve learned your toad’s species-specific preferences, you may devote your time to building a realistic habitat. For instance, if your toad is a native to wet forests, give him lots of leaf cover, moss, and a few lush, live plants to enjoy. If your toad is a prairie dweller, he’ll need flat rocks, a stand of tall grass, and a little pool to lounge in.

As you consider your pet toad care checklist, keep in mind that you’ll have to account for your toad’s dietary needs, even if you’re squeamish regarding things like insects and worms. Most toads sold in the pet store will take delight in a steady diet of crickets, provided the crickets are dusted now and then with a vitamin-rich powder (also available at pet stores). Toads may likewise receive pleasure from earthworms or wax worms. Some toads have substantially more exotic dietary needs, and may need to be fed mice or goldfish to maintain their health and happiness, so always take care to consult a reputable book or salesperson before bringing your new toad home.

While owning a toad may not be for everyone, learning the ins and outs of pet toad care may make for a rewarding, unique, and perhaps even magical pet ownership experience for those who are up to the task. As you learn more and more when it comes to the varying needs, habitats, and mythologies behind these arousing and attention holding creatures, you’ll soon be ready for a toad of your very own. Educate yourself well and head to the pet store. You may just return home with a new best friend.

After the very unpleasant procedure, which required an overnight stay, the vet told us that China’s back two teeth were so badly covered with plaque that she had not even tried to clean them. After some research. I discovered PetzLife Oral Care gel, and after two, 4oz bottles, we see a great improvement. The plaque was so thick on China’s teeth that it looked more like how barnacles look under an old ship, and now the white of China’s teeth is showing, slowly showing more and more.

Awesome product~!
By Brittany Wood
I ordered Petzlife for my dachshund. He had some stubborn plaque/and tartar on his pointed teeth. I brush his teeth several times a week but it would not budge.
We applied this for 2 weeks and it must have loosened it up b/c all I had to do was scrape a little bit and it came off. YAY!!!

EDIT: I am still using this over two years after my first review. It works great for all my dogs! No dentals yet!

His other teeth were yellow and the vet said that they will never be white. I brush his teeth and my opther bichons with CET first, then again with petzlife. His teeth are bone white. and my other bichon has teeth that builds tarter very fast. This also helps greatly. From experience this is what i recomend, first. Change over from yoru dry crunchy food to fresh real food, raw meat vegtibles etc, look up a company called the honest kitchen great stuff. Dry crunchy food actually makes teeth worse with all the oils plus its unhealthy. These are animals, and they were created by God to eat other animals and vegtibles, not processed food. Second, brush with CET and then Petzlife nightly. The food change and brushing brought my 2 bichons to have much better health, hair , skin, and teeth then i could have ever imagined! Im glad i found these products, and want to share them with other animal lovers!. I also got my bichons to sit still for me to physically scrape any plaque off there teeth with a dental scraper.. it took a long time to get them used to it, but any plaque buildup is now non existant. and will never need a dental visit or cleaning again since i scrape off any buildup. You all should try it too

I have studied dog behaviour, breeding, genetics, etc at Sydney Technical College and work as a dog trainer, boarder and manage a volunteer pet visiting program. I have read many, and I MEAN many books on dogs and found this one to be most definately, one of the best. It explains in non scientific language why dogs are dogs and why they do the things they do. I found it entertaining at least and extrelely educational at best. I personally, thoroughly recommend this book to anyone wishing to know and understand dogs better. I am delighted that I have found this book at Amazon and can now have my very own copy. P.S. My beautiful poodle has fully recovered from her illness!

In order to train a dog to poop outside, the introductory lesson a dog proprietor ought to learn is to comprehend the pre-elimination signs. I’ll show you the easy pre-elimination warning signs all puppies make as well as 3 easy tips to train a dog to poop outside.

Dog Potty Training – Easier Than You Think

Training a dog to poop outside is posing no difficulty than you think. So when do you commence your dog’s potty training? Ideally it ought to start out amongst 6 and 8 weeks of age. Unfortunately though, puppies at that age have not yet developed the muscular control to succeed.

Training your dog to poop outside requires patience. Commands like “sit”, “fetch” or “stay” come very without apparent effort to puppies and may be learned within a few days. But potty training takes weeks, occasionally months.

3 Signs Your Dog Needs to Poop

There are signs and signals to look out for that will clue you in on when your puppy wants to poop. These clues will aid you to train a dog to poop outside a much posing no difficulty task:

1. Circling and squatting in a queer area

2. Pacing a queer area

3. Smelling a peculiar area over and over

Now here are 3 tips to train your pooch to go outside:

Tip #1 Get Her Outside Fast

Often you may catch your puppy right before it poops on your floor. Before your puppy poops on the floor, scoop her up speedily and say “outside” and then quickly run outside with her.

Tip #2 Give the Command

Most times the puppy will circle a bit more, but more often times than not, she will squat and poop. As she begins to poop or pee, say “Go Potty”. You don’t want to yell at her, but you do need to say the command to her firmly. Then of course, after she’s finished, you praise her lavishly.

Tip #3 Never Scold or Punish

Very important, be patient. Don’t scold your puppy if she does away with indoors. Remember, it takes time for a dog to let you recognise it has to go outside. Remember, their bladder muscles need to develop also, which comes with maturity.

Frequency of Elimination for Puppies

A few tips to do not forget – normally dogs need to eliminate each 2-3 hours. If your dog has not shown pre-elimination conduct within that time frame, take her out anyway. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Make sure you say “Go Potty”.

Again, even when outside, it helps to wait and watch for the desired conduct then issue the command. That helps the dog associate the command with the behavior.

If the dog hasn’t gone after a few minutes and a few ‘Go potty’ commands, take it back inside for an hour. Of course, if you spot the pre-elimination conduct in less time, go outside again immediately.

Conclusion

Dogs learn very quickly. Be patient and loving. Punishment is cruel and counter-productive, and nowhere more so than in waste elimination training. Finally, never rub a dog’s nose in waste.

It’s based on a few simple ideas, one of which is the puppy’s idea of its “den”, which it will scrupulously avoid soiling. It’s you, the owner, who needs to understand what constitutes the puppy’s notion of its den and use that to your advantage.

Dogs, like most people, are creatures of habit, so that can be used too. Set up a watering schedule that will contribute to success. Also don’t try to housebreak a puppy before it’s old enough to have adequate bladder control. Still, you can make it to that point without too many accidents. The book details all this.

Finally, remember Pavlov’s dog. Dogs respond directly – they don’t understand abstract thoughts. Start by repeating a word like “potty” over and over quietly while your puppy is relieving herself, then praise her. This will associate the word with the feeling of relief. DON’T USE THE WORD ABSTRACTLY like asking “do you want to go out and potty?” when you’re in the house! (You can say “do you want to go outside?”). After “programming” your puppy about 100 times, she will pee on command when she hears the word. This will really pay off later when you’re travelling, etc. The important thing is to understand that dogs take everything literally and directly and really only understand a few key words, your tone of voice, and your body language.

Try to think like a dog – it will change your whole view of the world!

It REALLY DOES WORK! I had a dog that was a 1.5 year old, I mistakingly paper trained her first and she never stopped doing what she was taught- going inside on the paper! NOT A GOOD IDEA! A family friend recommended this book and within about twenty four hours she was house trained!!! Most people would have said that I would always have a problem with her, NO way! Two years later, she’s remains PERFECTLY HOUSETRAINED! In addition to this amaziing success story, I recently loaned the book to someone who was having trouble house training her new puppy; within a few days- no problem at all! Buy it, it really is well worth the money!

Kalstone even includes information on paper-training, though she makes it clear that this is not the best method, and should not be considered as an intermediate step if one expects a dog to use the bathroom exclusively outside at any point in its life.

The thing I like most about the little book, aside from the completely reasonable price (truly one of the best deals for your dollar in the world of dog-training books), is that she includes several sample feeding/exercise/elimination schedules that a person can tailor to one’s own schedule. She also strongly advises and gives solid training information about crate-training, which when done properly, is one of the most humane and best gifts a human could possibly bestow upon a canine companion.

If you’re having a problem with “accidents” in the house, *this* is the book you’ve been looking for! And what a bargain!

From Publishers Weekly”I don’t mean this to sound full of myself but this Wizard of Oz story? It’s all regarding me!!! I’M IN ALMOST EVERY SCENE IN THE PICTURE!!!” A leaf from Judy Garland’s long lost diary? Secret tapes of a Munchkin? No, it’s the primary diary of Terry, the dog who played Toto in the classic 1939 MGM film. Writing in plain, even modest prose (although she describes her share as critical and her performance as flawless, she understands that Judy Garland was the star of the film), Terry likewise reveals the grueling before-scenes enemas, snafus on the set and the outstanding difficultness of playing a scene with flying monkeys. A curious cross amongst Oz trivia, a parody and a chronicle of Terry’s actual career (she made 14 movies and worked with Shirley Temple, Spencer Tracy and Joan Crawford), this agreeably diverting and fanciful “diary” also reveals intriguing facts when it comes to the economics and mechanics of training animals for films and, specifically, the career of Carl Spitz, Terry’s manager and one of the most valued animal trainers in the business. While Carroll, a Wizard of Oz fan, is not as overtly clever or deliciously mean-spirited as Patrick Dennis, the author of Little Me, the classic 1961 parody of star autobiographies, he isn’t debilitatingly fawning, either. This fun little tome must both amuse and please dog lovers, as well as fans of Oz and collectors of Hollywood arcana.

Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information, Inc.

18 of 18 people found the following review helpful.
adorable tale of Terry, aka Toto the dog
By Matthew G. Sherwin
I, Toto is a delightfully well written book by Willard Carroll about the life of Terry, a Cairn Terrier who became famous in movies. The book is based on a scrapbook Willard Carroll found that documented the life and movie career of this well trained dog; and the book is primarily set up to look just like a book typed on an old typewriter–written, of course, by the dog itself.

The book starts with the story of how Terry was born, adopted and eventually given up by her owners because of her troubles with housetraining; and we learn how Carl Spitz professionally trained dogs to perform in movies. Spitz, an excellent trainer who worked with many dogs, wound up training Terry professionally. Spitz used both kindness and discipline to train his dogs, including Terry, very well; his talents are obvious when we consider that Terry (aka Toto) appeared in at least fourteen major motion pictures including The Wizard Of Oz.

Carroll cleverly writes the memoirs of Terry, or Toto, in the first person as if the dog herself had written the book. This provides the reader with an extra slice of humor when Carroll writes about things that happened on the sets of pictures or in Carl Spitz’s training camp for dogs. Carroll does an excellent job of getting readers to be charmed out of their trees by Terry who eventually becomes renamed Toto for the sake of her career. A movie star dog has to consider Hollywood politics, after all!

The book is filled with wonderful reproductions of ads for the movies Terry was in; and we see numerous publicity shots from movies including Bright Eyes with Shirley Temple and Terry as Rags the dog. Of course, we get plenty of stills from The Wizard Of Oz and there are very nicely done “hand written” asides to the reader that also appear to be written by Terry. The result is a charming look back at the life of Terry, the dog who became Toto and enjoyed great movie fame–and treats along the way!

Overall, classic movie buffs will enjoy this book; and people who love The Wizard Of Oz will appreciate this book very much since so little was known about Terry before Willard Carroll wrote this book. The book is well written and a real page turner; it grabs your attention and never lets it go.

Great job, Willard Carroll!

If you ever encounter a stray animal, you may experience a range of emotions. Animal lovers may instinctively wish to aid the stray, while other humans may merely wish to distance themselves from a potentially dangerous situation. Strays may carry dangerous, contagious diseases, or may react acutely out of fear. Others may be friendly and looking for a home. Regardless, it is smart to stay cautious and consider your own safety and that of others before ever approaching an unfamiliar animal.

If you do determine to approach a stray, or if you without advance planning find yourself in the vicinity, it is indispensable to keep your own safety in mind. Remember that scared, sick, and injured animals may act funnily out of fear, and may growl, snarl, attack, or even run away into dandier peril in the middle of the street. If an animal looks threatening or acts strangely, do not approach.

If you determine to approach the animal:

Walk tardily toward the stray with your hand extended in a fist.

Allow it to sniff your hand in order before you undertake to touch it.

If the animal still seems friendly, pet it on the back or on the side. Do not pet it on the head, as it may react adversely. Do not try to pet cats on the belly.

Check to see if the stray has tags or a collar. If so, call the number to reunite the animal with it is owners. If it has no tags, contact the local animal shelter.

If at any time the animal becomes affrighted or aggressive, tardily back away. Do not turn and run, as this may cause it to chase you.

Always wash your hands exhaustively after touching a strange animal to stay clear from contracting viruses and infections.

Never approach wild animals. They are much more likely than domesticated animals to carry sicknesses such as rabies and act unpredictably.

It is particularly crucial to talk to children with regards to the dangers of strays and the importance of never approaching animals without extreme caution. Children are exceedingly curious and may not perceive the dangers in approaching strays. However, children are most vulnerable for severe bites and attacks.Teach children to be kind to animals and to never act acutely toward them; however, likewise instruct them to use caution to protect their own safety.

Mort
I have studied heart disease for the last 5 years after undergoing a triple by-pass operation. I am glad to say I have been convinced of Dr Raths theory for the last 4 years and have now got back to full health thanks to Vitamin C and L-Lysine.

The flavour of the month now appears to be Homocystine which when elevated is a good marker of heart disease but to try to lower homocystine and say that this is the cause of heart disease is taking a huge leap of faith.

If one was to look down from above and observe the scene of every murder for a number of days one would see a team of detectives pouring over the crime scene. To then deduce that detectives cause all murders due to their presence is taking the same leap of faith.

I have been giving talks on the use of vitamin C and L-Lysine to reverse blockages for a number of years now and have seen many people reverse the disease process by taking these relatively cheap substances.

If you have angina or blocked arteries then you must start taking vitamin C today.

This is the only book you will need to buy on heart disease.

Some warnings. Vitamins and minerals dont work overnight. If you are on any heart medication then you must continue to take it until your symptoms have receded and then ask your doctor to start reducing your medication as you return to full health. This could take from 2 months to 12 months.

Vitamin C is best taken in divided doses over the day.

The amount required is 3000 mg to 6000 mg per day of equal parts vitamin C and L-Lysine.(4000mg equalls half level teaspoon)

L-Lysine is an amino acid which is required for healthy collagen.

Collagen that lacks vitamin C becomes brittle and cracks. Our arteries are held together by collagen.

L-Lysine also plays another important roll in the repair process. It binds onto Lipo-Protein A. (Lp(a))which our liver makes as a response to cracked arteries nullifying its stickiness thus halting the build up of plaques.Lp(a)is a component of our LDL colesterol but they dont even check for it in normal collesterol checks.

To find out the best way to take vitamin C have a look at this website and do a search on it.http://doctoryourself.com.

Enjoy this book, enjoy good health.

R. Schryer
Animals don’t get heart attacks but people do because most animals manufacture vitamin C in their bodies but humans do not have this ability; and vitamin C is ESSENTIAL for strong, healthy arteries, as well as for a healthy immune system. Virtually all animals — except for humans and other primates (monkeys and apes) plus guinea pigs and a few fruit-eating birds and bats — not only manufacture vitamin C every day, they manufacture a lot of it. A typical animal manufactures 20 mg or more of vitamin C PER POUND OF BODY WEIGHT every day. If your cat or dog, for example, weighs 10 lbs, he or she manufactures 200 mg or more of vitamin C daily. The official recommended daily intake of vitamin C for humans is less than 100 mg. That’s only enough for a 5 lb. animal, but it’s supposed to be enough for a 125 lb. woman or a 175 lb. man. It’s supposed to be enough, but it isn’t. Humans need as much vitamin C as animals do; we just can’t manufacture our own like most animals can. A typical 125 lb. women needs at least 2,500 mg of vitamin C daily and a 175 lb. man needs at least 3,500 mg. You may think that a glass of orange juice every day meets all of your need for vitamin C but, in fact, it falls far short. Given our shortage of vitamin C, it’s not surprising that humans get cardiovascular diseases — including heart attacks — that most animals don’t. Read this book and learn how with appropriate supplementation of vitamin C and other essential nutrients you can virtually eliminate your risk of having a heart attack. This book could not only significantly improve your health but literally save your life.

LANDAY, A.B., B.S.
Dr. Rath and twice Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling have elucidated the root causes of several metabolic diseases and have enumerated the modalities by which they can be prevented and reversed. Their stalwart battle against the intransigence of the medical establishment in the UK and US is laudable. The chicanery of “Big Pharma, Inc.” will not continue in perpetuity no matter how deeply and insidiously they infiltrate the medical research and education facilities because people are losing faith in their purported munificence. The public will become educated about their health through the work of Dr. Rath and others. Most of us realize that no drug designed to squelch and quell symptoms will ever address the root metabolic disturbances and deficiencies. This screed is an invaluable discertation on cardiovascular health. Ultimately, we must all take the existential approach and be responsible for our health and prosperity. We are fed up with the lies and prevarication! Dr. Rath will succeed and we all will succeed because we are frankly sick and tired of being sick.

Arden Moore is on a mission to change this deplorable statistic. With the publication of “The Cat Behavior Answer Book” (and its companion, “The Dog Behavior Answer Book”), Moore gives pet owners the tools and information they need to understand their cherished pets and manage any behavior challenges that arise.
Packed with enlightening answers to real questions from real cat owners about real cat problems, this book reflect Moore’s own kitty expertise (she’s a longtime cat mom herself) as well as the latest scientific research into the quirks and mysteries of feline behavior. Moore’s advice is sound, sensible, practical and always given in a warm, friendly, supportive tone. She’s never judgmental and doesn’t overcomplicate things.
The compact, welcoming “handbook” format is inviting rather than intimidating, encouraging curious ailurophiles to flip to any page to listen in on Moore’s warm, wise and witty advice. There’s lots to learn, whether you’re a new kitten parent or a veteran cat owner.
Moore deeply empathizes with cats and their humans, and understands the complex relationships they share. She knows that just a bit of help in navigating the rough spots of feline-human life can strengthen the interspecies bond — and save cats’ lives. Get this book, and join Arden Moore on her mission.

I looked up “spraying” in the index and all I got was Feliway for an answer, which I don’t believe really works. It doesn’t work on any of my eight cats.
We all strive for perfection in our relationship. We want to do everything we may to impress our guy so he falls deeper and deeper in love with us. Unfortunately, on occasion in that push towards an unwavering and committed love, we stumble and make a costly mistake. Such is the case with the clingy girlfriend. This is the type of woman who unwittingly smothers her guy to the point that he pulls back and in the end loses all interest. You don’t want to be labeled this and you need to stay clear from it at all costs. The key to doing that is to know when you’re acting this way. Once you comprehend the signs you’re clingy, you may stop the conduct and get the kinship back on track.

Here are 4 signs you’re clingy in your relationship:

You call your guy more than he calls you. In a typical week who does most of the calling in your relationship? If the answer is you, that may be a sign that you’re a bit clingy. If you are the only one calling and if you do it various times a day, you unquestionably are the clingy type. A kinship will have to be balanced and he ought to be reaching out to you just as much as you are to him.

You question him when it comes to where he’s been. It takes two humans to make a couple. You each must have your own interests and your own friends. If you and your man have a heap of time apart, even just an evening, and you barrage him with questions, that’s a clear sign that you’ve moved beyond being clingy into being obsessive. There isn’t a man anyplace that finds this type of inquisition attractive.

You want to get married soon after you two meet. Relationships take time to develop. If you push a man for too much too soon, he’ll inevitably push you away. Although love may take place very speedily it’s best not to share your vision of a wedding and children too soon in the relationship. If you do this, he’ll see you as being needy.

You only see yourself as his girlfriend. We all have value beyond our relationship. Your identity ought to never be determined by who you’re dating or who you’re in love with. If you imagine your life would be over if the two of you broke up, that’s not rational. If you’ve conveyed this to him, he’ll ultimately break up with you, if he hasn’t yet. He wants somebody who has a life of her own. He doesn’t want to become her life.

It’s hard to recognize our own errors sometimes. If you take a step back and look at your own conduct it will become clear to you whether or not you’re being clingy. Obviously you need to alter something if you realize you are. Just do not forget that men don’t stay in long term relationships with women like this so consider a great deal of changes before it’s too late.
